Every marketing expert in the world will tell you that customer testimonials will help your business. Collect them and use them with all mailed literature. Don't forget however, (we did) they can be even more powerful, on your web site.

For us "little folks", our web sites have practically zero name recognition. An important influence, in a prospect's buying decision, is trust. The more they trust you, the more likely they are to buy from you.

Your web presence, promises, warranties and guarantees help build trust, but that word is still coming from you. Testimonials mean that you not only lived up to expectations, but that you did it good enough that your customers took the time to tell you about it. That is a powerful recommendation.

Asking for e-mailed testimonials make it easy and convenient for your customers to respond and protects their anonymity. When you use testimonials with printed literature you almost have to include a name and city/state to give it validity. That means it is possible for your customer to get unwanted telephone calls.

For the web, an e-mail address is sufficient validity. Surprisingly, very few people, according to industry statistics, ever e-mail a question to a testimonial writer. Over 60% of web viewers, however, at least glance at testimonials.

Here's our example of how to ask for an e-mailed testimonial:

Dear Friend,
Thank you for your business and support. We appreciate the opportunity of serving you and will continue to work hard, in adding to our relationship.
We would like to ask for a small favor. Would you take just a few minutes and e-mail us even a few sentences, describing your opinion of our products or services? Also, would you allow us to post that on a "testimonials" page, along with your e-mail address, that we are adding to our web site?
Your few minutes of kindness would help us a lot. "A few words from a friend is worth more than ten thousand words from a stranger."
We want to thank you, for your consideration, and hope this message finds you and yours well and happy.

Cordially Yours,
